Redmond, Wash. – Sixty-one Lake Washington School District (LWSD) high school seniors have been named semifinalists in the 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the semifinalists on Wednesday, September 9.

Several Lake Washington School District (LWSD) students came home with an award after the 2026 Washington State Science and Engineering Fair (WSSEF).

Redmond, Wash. – The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) has announced that 15 different LWSD schools have been recognized through the Washington School Recognition Program in the 2024-25 school year.

Lake Washington School District (LWSD) students demonstrated their talent, dedication and passion for health sciences at the 2026 HOSA Future Health Professionals Washington State Leadership Conference in Spokane March 9-11.

Competing against students from across the state, LWSD participants earned numerous top placements and showcased their skills across 65 health science and leadership competitive events. These included individual and team competitions focused on medical knowledge, hands‑on clinical skills, public speaking, problem solving and health advocacy. When not competing, students participated in workshops and leadership sessions designed to prepare future health professionals for post-secondary education and careers in healthcare.

Nearly 350,000 works were submitted for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards this year. Only about 2,500 students nationwide received national medals and two of those students are from Lake Washington School District (LWSD).
