Out of District & Online Course Information

Please review this information regarding being approved for Out of District. If you are a current ICS student, you are welcome to contact your counselor to discuss taking a course out of district.

Reasons Out of District Course can be approved:

  1. Credit recovery
  2. Course advancement
  3. Course does not fit or conflicts with ICS schedule

Students must apply for approval before starting a course. Review information within grade level section.

Important Information

Current and Incoming Students

Class of 2028, 2027, 2026, 2025 follow the process below to apply for approval

Requests for out-of-district courses intended to accelerate a student's path of study and will impact academic course placement for the 25-26 school year must be completed by May 30, 2025. For requests submitted after May 30, there is no guarantee that there will be space in the course you wish to take during the 25-26 school year. We expect that students follow our process to receive approval for out-of-district requests and honor timelines.

Transcripts for summer classes are due on August 15, 2025, if they will impact academic course placement for the 25-26 school year. If you are completing an out of district course that is required for graduation, the course must be completed, and the final transcript sent to ICS, no later than May 1st of your senior year

STEP 1 - Choose Provider: Please refer to the OSPI Approved Online Provider List

STEP 2 - Complete Appendix C: Once you have selected a provider and a course, complete Appendix C. (#4 on the Appendix C form asks that you attach a syllabus or other information for the course.  Please do not attach the syllabus.) Please schedule a meeting with your grade level counselor.

STEP 3 - Apply for Approval: Submit completed Appendix C Form to the ICS registrar, located in student services. Approval notice will be sent out via email. DO NOT pay for or begin an out-of-district or online course until you receive approval from ICS.

STEP 4 - Transcript: Once the student completes the course, they must request an OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT be emailed directly to Kristina Summers at: krsummers@lwsd.org
